My approach

My approach to women’s leadership is based on the deep intelligence of the cycle and the power of the Feminine and how we might integrate this in the world. While I have gathered a huge body of knowledge, the work is always forming anew through the co–creative power of the women I work with. My aim is to support and unfold both your individual ambition and calling within the larger context of what is needed in the world today.

A woman in touch with her cycle can potentially encounter a new understanding of power and a deeper knowing that can nourish and guide who she is and what she does. You can feel more ‘in the flow’, in touch with both your own calling and the needs of the times, and able to manifest it. As we experience the economic and environmental fallout of our unremitting growth–at–any–price mantra and linear thinking, we need to ask ourselves what is required now. As women we have a vital role to play—we need to take up more positions of authority in the world and in each moment, not because we are better than men but because there is an imbalance of women to men, and a loss of creative tension that occurs because of that. That creative tension is the ground for the deep change required.

We need coaching for wisdom—a programme that builds in the balancing force of the Feminine alongside the dynamic of the Masculine. This will allow us to feel into what wants to be known and needs to emerge, and the means to realise it.

The female cyclical model of development—the menstrual cycle—opens a woman to a huge array of resources that help her to develop herself
and what she has to offer the world.

Moving beyond mastery to artistry

In our work together you can learn about:

Working with the framework of the cyclical model of manifestation wasn’t learning about something that I wanted to know. It was being given the language to think about something that I was intimately acquainted with by right of being a woman. This work can appear deep and challenging but if you are receptive it is really simple and practical and exciting.
Alex is an inspiration and lots of fun!

Some of you may have more visible roles such as in politics, education or business, while others are more invisible, doing all the hidden, ineffable practices within family and community that make civil society possible. All of our roles are vital and necessary.

General information about coaching

Why would I employ a coach?

Imagine having someone who:

A coach can offer these things. They are ally, touchstone and provocateur supporting you on the path in life you are choosing to unfold.

Coaching is success oriented

Coaching concerns itself with what is possible, with the future, rather than fixing the past. It asks what can be done now that will move you forward. By drawing out the ideas, inspirations, energy and skills, your 'big dreams' can become a reality. Success takes commitment. Coaching is a way of cementing that necessary commitment. In other words: it keeps you on your toes!

The coaching relationship is alchemical

The coaching relationship is the fulcrum of the coaching process, without it there is no coaching. It provides the alchemy out of which ideas evolve, something unknown appears, and the deep Self can be engaged. It helps to turn the 'base metal' of your first rough, rudimentary glimmerings, into the 'gold' of a tangible expression in the world. The coaching relationship nourishes, energises, enlightens and challenges you to go to new levels in yourself

The coach does not do the work

The coach does not come up with the solutions; they provide the conditions in which you, the coachee, may access your own deep intelligence, authority and drive. They also help to keep you on track especially when the initial excitement of the creative endeavour has worn off and there is much work still to do. Regard the coach as like the piece of the grit in the oyster shell that provides the necessary 'rub' or tension that creates the 'pearl' of your life.

The coach is a resource

Whilst the coach does not do the work, she or he is not a silent partner. The coach will engage with you fully, asking questions, drawing out, and reflecting back. They will also have plenty of ideas, opinions, strategies and networks that you can draw on if you want. This does not mean they are know what is right for you. On the contrary only you know that.

Are you ready for coaching?

Coaching requires commitment, discipline and patience. You do need to have a certain hunger to achieve, a willingness to rise to meet your best self, and a sense of support around you. There needs to be a gap between where you are and where you want to be personally and professionally.

To get the most out of coaching you need to:

What's the difference between counselling and coaching?

Counselling is about healing past hurts and traumas, understanding what is behind some of the negative or unhelpful behaviours one has and transforming those. Counselling emphasises the quality of beingness, whilst coaching focuses more on doing, creating new pathways into the future. Some aspects of coaching can certainly be found in counselling however counselling does not come into the coaching relationship. The relationship between coach and coachee is one of equals.
